What's the difference between an IPL laser and a standard laser?

IPL is similar to a laser treatment, except that instead of one wavelength of light, many different wavelengths are emitted and the focus is less resulting in less damage to your skin. The light energy is absorbed by pigment cells and converted into heat to destroy the unwanted pigment that is the source of spots and unwanted freckles.
