Dermal Fillers

Several new hypoallergenic injectable skin volume enhancers that last up to 2 years now offer a safe solution to deep folds, wrinkles and lip volume. These new fillers when injected properly can replace a face lift with minimal to no down time and look amazingly natural.  When combined with Botox, and other facial resurfacing treatments the effect is stunning.

Fillers are the new staple in natural looking cosmetic enhancement.  Advances in in deep and superficial filler placement can:

Enhance your appearance: Re-shape and re-balance your lips, create a beautiful high arch to your cheeks, create a beautiful chin and mouth area.

For men we use fillers to enhance the jaw and chin in order to create a strong masculine profile.

Reverse age related changes: Lift sagging and sunken cheeks, reshape and enhance a receding mouth, restore sunken eyes.

Soften acne and surgical scarring

They are produced by bacterial fermentation that uses our own DNA as the template for production (the same way human insulin is made). Voluma®  and Juvederm® use Hyaluronic acid to fill skin gaps and enhance folds and lips. Hyaluronic acid is normally present in our skin and thus provides a natural way to improve your look. Because they are not made from animal product it will not cause allergic reactions seen with collagen® or Hylaform®.

Long lasting fillers with products containing Calcium Hydroxyl-apotite crystals (Radiesse®) and those made with Poly-L-Lactic Acid (Sculptra®) are also available but have a higher risk of granuloma formation (persistent inflammation, redness and swelling at the injection site)
At present we cannot recommend this type of filler for lip enhancement.

Patient Information

The most common complication of treatment is mild swelling, redness and bruising at the injection site. The degree of swelling and redness will vary from individual to individual. Recovery times vary from 12-72 hrs.

Rarely, filler gel may inadvertently block small arteries and result in symptoms that will mimic an infection (swelling, pain, redness). There is an injectable reversing agent that will dissolve the filler reversing the complicating symptoms. Please contact the office as soon as possible if you have any concerns about the injected area.
